Professional Background
I am a licensed clinical psychologist, researcher, consultant, and author based in Seattle in Washington State. My training included an emphasis in health psychology and integrating pyschology into medical care. Before opening my private practice, I worked in primarily medical settings helping medical doctors integrate psychology into medical care and pain management. I offer therapy sessions to adults and individuals. I have been in private practice since 2014.
With recent research showing promising possibilities for the use of psychedelics in bringing healing to individuals and communities, I have been very excited to pursue training, both formally and informally, in the use of psilocybin and other plant medicines. As of 2021, I have been expanding my traditional psychotherapy practice to include support for preparation and integration for plant medicine journeys.
Therapeutic Approach
I have deep roots in both logical and intuitive—I have a research-oriented PhD and I have also had deeply transformative experiences with expanded states of consciousness.
My approach is still firmly based in skills I developed in my years of experience in traditional psychotherapy, including many years of experience with the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also expand beyond traditional ideas of illness/wellness to incorporate a much broader perspective. I recognize that we are never in isolation—we all belong in this interconnected web of life.
I always honor my clients to be the expert on what feels right for them, and I view my role as providing perspectives, skills, and tools to help each person find their own path through.
